Coach Chris Tierney is Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and a Black Belt in Kempo-Jitsu Karate. Chris is a prior US Army Ranger and served as a combatives instructor while enlisted.

A form of take-down grappling that uses leverage and body mechanics versus kicking and striking. The main focus is self-defense by applying logic and practicality to effective, powerful movements.
Mixed martial arts is a contact sport that allows a wide range of fighting techniques including striking, kicking, punching and grappling.
The way to avoid injury is to remain humble and be a good sport. If at any time you aren’t comfortable or feel like you could be injured TAP or say TAP!
